About the Artist

Morning Gossip
Welcome to Tenderfoot Art. I'm glad you stopped by to visit and I hope you find something you like in this little corner of cyberspace. My name is Kathy Reed, a Kansas native now living on a ranch south of Hillsboro, NM. As an artist I am incredibly lucky to have access to myriad subject matter for my photographs and quilts.
I like working on my art much better than tooting my own horn so I thought I'd let you read a blurb (focus on quilts) from the Percha Creek Traders February 2011 newsletter. (see below)
Kathy's artwork—collectively called Tenderfoot Art—starts with an inspiration from the world around her, whether her horses, a field of flowers, or perhaps memories of a friend. She goes to her pile of fabrics and pulls out the swatches she has an immediate response to. She then starts to cut free-form designs that begin to fit together like puzzle pieces until her image emerges. From that she builds her quilt, using bold design and intuitive color choices to express her original germ of an idea. The results are simply spectacular.
Her one of‐a‐kind fabric art is so sought after she has developed a related line of more affordable wall, table, and household items that are equally colorful and exciting. Kathy’s quilt designs have been modified and recreated as tile designs, cutting boards, refrigerator magnets, and other items with many uses. Her work ranges in price from below $10 to hundreds of dollars, including custom tile treatments for kitchens and bathrooms, among the many products offered by Tenderfoot Art.
Now that you know a little about me, I hope you'll take the time to look around the site. You'll see both my original photography and art quilts all available as prints on tile and metal and more. Enjoy!
